Serious charges
What?
Serious, or Indictable, matters are those that carry the highest penalties, of up to 25 years imprisonment.
These include offences against the person including murder, manslaughter, sexual assault/intercourse, fraud, wounding, importation, proceeds of crime, pervert the course of justice, distribution of offensive material, and those mentioned elsewhere on this site.
Why do you need a lawyer?
These are matters that must proceed to the District or Supreme Court to be heard by a judge, and sometimes a jury. This process can be quite daunting for people and engaging a competent solicitor will not only ensure that you receive the best legal defence, but also ease the stress of the process for you.
How can we help?
We are able to review your Brief of Evidence and provide you with solid advice about how your matter should proceed. We take great pride in tailoring our advice to our client’s specific situation.
If you wish to plead not guilty to the offence, we have a wealth of trial experience and work with highly regarded barristers to ensure that the judge and jury see your best defence.
If you wish to plead guilty, we are strong negotiators and have successfully negotiated to have charges withdrawn and dismissed, or downgraded, to ensure that your sentence is appropriate for you and the conduct.
We work with medical professionals and your personal contacts to ensure that the judge gets to know you personally by proving effective subjective material in addition to making powerful submissions in your favour.
Whatever the charge or how you wish to plead, we will fight for the best outcome for you, taking into account all the evidence and legal options.
Contact Cassandra or Robert if our office for a free, no-obligation discussion about your options.
